This page is to display my attempts at making tack

I havnt been making julip tack very long so my attempts are a bit feeble but rest assured they will improve. Watch out for the lotr tack when its finnished, check out the "first stages" photos.

Road safety set

I made this last month, it was my first ever attempt. The set consists of fluorescent leg bandages, exercise sheet, rein sleeves, noseband and browband, tail bandage and a jacket for Bella.

Lotr- first stages

This is a pic of legolas's bow and arrows, they are made out of air drying clay and are waiting to be painter and for small feathers to be stuck on the ends of the arrows and for a bow string.

Lotr-first stages

This picture shows darki, my grand champion horse being very patient as I practiced for making my clay saddle by using play dough to mould out the shape, note the head armour.

Lotr- first stages- Rohirrim Saddle

This is the close up of my play-dough saddle, dont worry i havnt lost my head, im not actually planning on making a saddle from play dough in neon purple!!!! I made this to test whether or not it would fit Silver cloud if i moulded it on the back of Darki. This saddle is from the film lotr, it will be a replica of the saddles used by the riders of rohan, the land of the horse lords. Note the high front, In the film it had gold plating and detail, mine will not have as much on it.

Lotr- first stages Rohirrim head barding

Again, this is the first model of my barding. This is also worn by the horses of the rders of Rohan. Used to protect the face from wepons of the enemy. In the film, they are made from a dark metal, intricately decorated and detailed, in the style of the king. Snowmane, the kings horse, wore barding that was edged with gold and had more decoration but the standard horses, including Arod, the horse which legolas rides had the less fancy kind.

Lotr-first stages The drying mat

This shows the various parts, drying out. With the clay i use it takes about 12 hours for small items, and up to 72 for the bigger items like saddles.
